Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive exfoliation to help remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, gradually reducing hyperpigmentation and the appearance of fine lines.  Spicewood Dermatology certified aestheticians use a specialized blade, which is positioned at an approximately 45 degree angle and gently swept across the skin’s surface. This sweeping action gently removes dead skin cells in the upper-most layers of the skin, which are often at the end of the natural regeneration cycle and can make skin appear dull.  This treatment is recommended for all skin types with the exception of those who suffer from acne. This treatment is safe and effective for pregnant or nursing women. Schedule your appointment here!

Will my hair grow back thicker/darker?

A popular myth among dermaplaning or shaving hair in general is that removing the hair will make it grow back coarser, darker and faster.  This is not true.  When the vellous hair is cut, the structure of the hair does not become damaged, therefore it is impossible to alter the growth of the hair follicles.
